Stop Treading Water…Sometimes in life, it can feel like you are just treading water. Expending all of your energy just to stay afloat, just to keep your head above water, doing all you can… and if you stop for a second you will go under and never come back up. This feeling can apply to your job, your relationship, your daily schedule, your life! It’s a hard place to be in your life, because you either have a plan and it seems as if it will never come to fruition or you have no plan at all…leaving you to tread water in the ocean of your life with no rescue boat or land in sight. So, what to do?
The three D’s… Decide, Direction, and Do! It really is this simple. The hard part is… YOU are busy! “Busy” is the new B-Word. You are too busy treading water in your mundane, unfulfilling, chaotic, or just ok life, relationships, and existence to add one more thing… especially something different, risky, and schedule-changing that would EVOLVE your life, make you feel better about you, and positively impact the people around you! Most people are “Too Busy” to be better; unwilling to make and take the time necessary to EVOLVE, best their lives, and live the life of their dreams. The good thing is… everything you want may not always take the amount of time you think… some things will and some won’t.
You must first DECIDE! At some point, you must decide that enough is enough and your life, your relationship, your job, or whatever area you chose is time for a reset or recharge. You DECIDE to stop blaming and any other negative feelings related to your circumstances and start from now. You DECIDE to learn from your past, your current situation, and the skills you have learned and applied that have and will benefit you moving forward. You DECIDE to use them going forward, always keeping them in your ever-growing arsenal to be the greatest you possible. You DECIDE what you want to really do with your life. Don’t worry about how it sounds just think it and say it out loud. Once you say something aloud, you can’t take it back… it’s out there for the world to hear; motivating you onward. If this is job related… don’t focus on the specific job. Start with the basics. Do you want to help people, or make them feel pretty, or like working with your hands? Start small and basic… then get more specific. It’s out there for you! Lastly, DECIDE who is on your team. When you DECIDE, tell a few people you trust. Get their ideas, support, encouragement, and sometimes the kick in the butt you will need from time to time.
