English: One morning when my kids were off to school I was sitting at my home office working on my next edition when I realized that the night before I had left the office mini blinds opened and the sun was shining super bright. Out of habit I got up really fast to close the blinds. Has this ever happened to you? However as I got closer to the window I had a flashback of when I worked in the corporate world. I recall that we worked in a building surrounded by windows, so anytime the sun would just slightly shine at our cubicles one of my co-workers would have already gotten up and closed the blinds; we had no time to enjoy that streak of sunshine.I just can’t believe that today years later and out of habit from working in corporate for twenty-one years that for a slight second I was about to close the blinds even though I remember for all those years stating to myself “one day I will have my own office and I will not close the blinds”. Yet here I was like a robot that was trained for many years. What was I doing? It’s obvious that I didn’t realize how blessed I was to have my own businesses, work from home and that it was ok to allow the warmth of the sunshine to glow on my face and in my life; it wasn’t even blocking my computer screen. Even though I have been working from home for almost 4 years I notice that some habits are just hard to break. There are certain things you do, that you do don’t even know why you are doing them.Today I feel so blessed for finally realizing that it’s ok to take the time to smell the flowers, breathe a breath of fresh air and for allowing myself to enjoy that little streak of sunshine to warm my soul. If I could give some advice, it would be “Don’t work so hard to get to where you dreamed of being only to not take the time to enjoy the moment. “Don’t block the sunshine out of your life”.
